Air Force Seek Eagle Mass Properties
David Whitlock, an ordnance equipment specialist with the Air Force’s Seek Eagle Mass Properties Shop, ensures the Joint Air-To-Surface Standoff Missile does not make contact with the fixture, at the Mass Properties Measurement Facility on Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., March 24. This is done to ensure the item is completely level and clear for the highest accuracy of measurement data. The measurements gathered are used by Seek Eagle engineers and customers to determine flight capabilities, weapon predictions, and as a production quality check. AFSEO’s equipment specialists provide mass property measurements of up to 8,000 pounds through the use of stationary and mobile measurement machines in support of worldwide deployments.
