Senior Airman Bobby Mullinnix, 82nd Security Forces Squadron, takes aim at a suspicious vehicle during a “mounted” patrol mission April 29 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. This was part of Air Force Materiel Command’s "Brave Defender" training, which is administered by the 96th Ground Combat Training Squadron. Teams of Airmen experienced both mounted (vehicle) and dismounted (foot) patrols through the forests and simulated villages around their base. GCTS instructors push 10 training classes a year, which consists of improvised explosive device detection and reaction, operating in an urban environment, mission planning, land navigation and casualty care. The three-week training culminates with a three-day field training exercise where the Airmen apply what they learned in combat scenarios. Medallions are prepared to be presented to Airmen nominated in each category of the 96th Test Wing’s Annual Awards program during a Feb. 3 ceremony on Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The Medallion Ceremony was a precursor to the Annual Awards Ceremony held later that evening, where one winner was chosen in each award category. Suzette Ellington, Eglin Family Support Activities Council president, speaks to key workers during a Combined Federal Campaign kick-off breakfast at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., Sept. 8. Eglin’s Airman and Family Readiness Center works hand-in-hand with the local CFC-sanctioned organization to provide direct support to service members, retirees and their dependents. Monetary gifts collected during the campaign are distributed to local, national and international organizations. The campaign runs through Oct. 20.
