UH-60 aircraft recovery to begin

  • Published
Resolve Marine Group, out of Mobile, Ala., has been contracted to complete the recovery of the UH-60 aircraft from the Santa Rosa Sound.

The salvage barge is expected to be on site at approximately noon today. The operation is expected to take eight hours, weather pending. An Army and Coast Guard dive team will also be on site to assist in the recovery.

The Intercoastal Waterway from buoy 79 to buoy 121 will remained closed to all marine traffic until recovery operations have ceased. That is a distance of approximately 3-1/2 miles East and 3-1/2 miles West of the Navarre Bridge.

Once the aircraft has been removed from the water, the recovery operations are expected to be turned over to the Safety Investigation Board who is already on site.  That effort is lead by the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center from Fort Rucker, Ala.

Anybody along the Santa Rosa Sound, who finds debris or witnessed anything involving the Army helicopter crash, please call 850-884-9281.
