EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE HURRICANE CONDITION ONE DECLARED Published May 8, 2014 EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla -- EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE Hurricane Condition One has been declared at Eglin by the 96th Test Wing commander as of 9:20 a.m., May 8, because of the threat of Hurricane Cobia. Hurricane Condition One means destructive winds of 58 MPH or greater are possible within 12 hours. All non-mission critical facilities and services are closed. Gates will close for inbound traffic at approximately 3 p.m. on May 8. Mission critical personnel are asked to be on station by 6 p.m. The base is expected to return to normal operating hours Monday, May 12. Voluntary evacuation should be completed at this time. Personnel will remain in shelters until released by the Eglin Battle Staff. Residents in base housing should seek shelter in an interior room if they have not gone to a shelter and remain in place until further notice. People are reminded to monitor television or radio broadcasts for the National Hurricane Center's latest forecast.
