3/22/2011 - Maj. Gen. James Hyatt, United States Air Force Warfare Center commander, speaks with Lt. Col. James Collins, 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron, prior to the general’s Combat Hammer sortie, March 14 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The general received an up-close view of the air-to-ground weapons system evaluation program known as Combat Hammer as part of his immersion with the 53rd Wing. 20th Fighter Wing F-16s from Shaw AFB, S.C., were at Eglin participating in the week-long evaluation. Combat Hammer is conducted by the 86th FWS, located here. The squadron hosts 20 to 25 evaluations at Hill and Eglin each year, assessing weapon system performance, reliability, capabilities, and limitations in realistic combat scenarios against representative real-world targets.
