Hurricane Condition Four has been declared at Eglin by the 96th Air Base Wing Commander as of 8:04 a.m. today because of the threat of Hurricane Carolina.

Hurricane Condition Four means destructive winds of 58 MPH or greater are possible within 72 hours.

Eglin is taking precautions now because of the long lead time needed for hurricane preparation.

Eglin officials also remind people to monitor television or radio broadcasts for the National Hurricane Center's latest forecast. Information is also posted at www.eglin.af.mil.
