Final flight farewells Phantom

Lt. Col. Ronald King, her pilot, grinned and eased her forward on the way into history. Today was 21 December. This was the final flight of the QF-4 Phantom – the final flight of AF 349 – and after 53 dedicated years of superior service, the final flight of the Phantom II would be done right.

F-35 fires first operational air-to-air missile

Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211 became the first operational F-35 Lightning II squadron to fire an air-to-air missile Sept. 15, during a 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group Weapons System Evaluation Program at Tyndall AFB.

Unmanned QF-16 and Navy F-18s face off

QF-16s assigned to the 82nd Aerial Target Squadron supported weapons testing Sept. 29 for Navy F-18s here. The F-18s conducted Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile tests and used the QF-16s as “target practice.”
